This late version of the famous P-38 Lightning which succeeded the F and G (61120) stood out by its “chin” radiators (so called because of their protruding air intakes) now located under each engine. 2,970 P-38Js were produced between August 1943 and June 1944 which, combined with the P-38L, constitutes two thirds of the approximately 10,000 P-38s produced. The first two American WWII aces flew the P-38J, demonstrating its effectiveness in the Pacific War.

The 1:48 scale is the queen size scale for model planes. Military models are also available in this scale. A model that is 1:48 scale is 48 times smaller than the real object. For example, a model airplane in the 1:48 scale measures 13 inches / 31.25 cm long if the real object is 15 m (1500 cm).
